Wish you had a friend who’d jump straight in the car when you text, “PSL and a walk through the cemetery?”

Friends at First Fright is a horror-themed speed friending mixer designed to help spooky souls make actual, platonic connections. Think speed dating, except we’re here to find friends.

Costumes are encouraged. Awkward small talk gets buried. 🪦

Whether you arrive solo or bring a friend, we’ll give you an easy, structured way to meet a whole crypt full of new people.

🕯️ How It Works

You’ll rotate through a series of short, round-robin conversations, meeting someone new each round.

Small talk is stressful? We’ve got you. Each table will have curated conversation prompts designed to get past “So… what do you do?” and into conversations that are actually fun.

The format is structured, playful and low-pressure, so you don’t have to work up the nerve to walk across a crowded room and introduce yourself to a stranger.

Once the rounds are over, stick around for open mingling and reconnect with the people you clicked with.

🎭 Costumes Strongly Encouraged

Come as you are, or come as your favourite character, creature, killer, cryptid or creation.

Costumes are absolutely not required, but they make excellent icebreakers and give everyone something to talk about before the first question is even asked.

Go subtle. Go elaborate. Go gloriously weird.

Everyone is welcome. This is an 18+ event.

• Anyone who has ever wished it were easier to meet their kind of people

You do not need to be a hardcore horror fan to belong here. An appreciation for the strange and unusual will do nicely.

Doors open at 6pm; Speed friending starts at 7pm.
